Facebook Messenger notifications make you aware of ongoing activities on the Messenger application. Fortunately, these notifications can be turned of. Below are ways to turn notifications off on your iOS and Android devices.
Turning off Messenger Notifications
I. On iOS
On iOS devices, you do not have to access the Messenger application to turn off it's notifications.
Go to Settings on your device
Select Notifications
Select Messenger. This will open the notification settings for Messenger.
Slide Allow Notifications button to off position. This will turn off every notification for Messenger, and also disable the additional notification options underneath the slider.

II. On Android
Just like on iOS devices, you can turn off Messenger notifications on Android from the "Settings" menu.
Go to your Settings
Select Apps or App Manager. Whichever the case may be. This will display a list of all your installed applications
Scroll down to find and Select Messenger from the list
Uncheck the Show notifications boxThis will completely disable notifications for the Messenger application.
